Jason is one of the directors at Unique Building & Carpentry. With Troy, he started Unique in 2010 having worked in in the industry for about fifteen years for other companies. When the business first started Jason was on the tools full time with Troy, however as the business has built up Jason is now in the office full time working on the business.
Jason will be the one who will put together your estimate and quote as well as follow the financial aspects of the job. He works closely with Fiona to ensure that the systems we have in place are working and that our processes are streamlined.
Jason’s time is spent working behind the scenes to improve the business, market the business through his various networking connections and to ensure that Unique has work booked in well in advance.
What do you enjoy about running your own business?
I love my job in the sense that we can bring a set of plans to life and fulfil the client’s vision and dream at the end that’s pretty rewarding. But that’s not achievable without the help of our amazing team that we have built of great people and the skills they bring to our company.
I am also passionate about constantly trying to improve our business performance overall and I am always looking to do things different from the rest of our competitors.
What has been the most satisfying project you’ve worked on?
– Wallaby Hill Rd at Jamberoo due to the location, challenges we faced during the build and overall finish of that home. I knew it was going to be a beautiful home very early on at the planning stage and I wasn’t disappointed at the end. The clients’ selections and finishes allowed our team to show our skills to deliver their vision.
This home was also the most satisfying due to the clients leaving at the tail end of the project to go on holidays for a month and when returning home at night they walked into their new home for the first time. That was a pretty special moment, all our team worked so hard to achieve this promise and for that I thank them.
What do you like to do on the weekends?
Spend time with my family and friends is what I look forward to the most and I have been known for spending way too much time mowing my lawn and gardening.
What is the best place you’ve travelled to, and why?
I would say Scotland when I was in England in 2005. The history and castles really stood out for me there.
